Three-part college financial aid and FASFA workshop coming soon!

The African Leadership Group is offering a three-session workshop for students and parents who need to learn how to navigate the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The workshops will be led by college finance experts from Pacific Western Bank.

The workshops will be held virtually on three successive Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m.: February 16, 23, and March 2.

UPDATE: The first session was a great success. Please don’t miss the next two!

The FAFSA is the best way to make college affordable. Filling out the FAFSA gives families access federal, state, and college-based sources to help pay for college.

The first session On Feb. 16 provided a broad overview of college financial aid, including the differences between federal and private student loans; grants. scholarships, and work-study opportunities; and tips for saving for college.

On Feb. 23, the second session, called FASFA 101, will provide a high-level overview of the form, and will also provide information on post-graduation student loan repayments.

And on March 2, the final session will take a deep dive into filling out the 2022-23 FASFA in a slide presentation from the U.S. Department of Education. While the application process might appear daunting, this workshop will help you feel confident as you work through the online application process.

All three workshops provide important information for students and their families preparing for college. Be sure to register soon!
