The African Leadership Group family is mourning alongside our Founder and Executive Director, Papa Dia, following the passing of his beloved mother, Adjaratou Ndeye Fama Ba, pictured here with Papa at a recent ALG gathering.
Those who know Papa know how deeply he loves his mother and family and how much his life has been shaped by the people, values, and community that made him who he is. Today, we simply surround Papa and his family with our love, our prayers, and our deepest condolences as they grieve this tremendous loss.
We know many across the ALG community will want to reach out to Papa personally. That instinct comes from love, and we know it will mean a great deal to him. For now, we ask that our community give Papa and his family the time and space they need to grieve, be together, and attend to family matters.
If you would like to share your condolences, we invite you to leave a message on the ALG Facebook page where there is a tribute post. We will make sure the expressions of love and support from the ALG community reach Papa and his family.
As his family has shared in announcing her passing:
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
Indeed, we belong to God, and indeed to Him we return.
May Adjaratou Ndeye Fama Ba rest in peace, and may Papa and his entire family be surrounded by love and comfort in the days ahead.
Regarding Afrik Impact 2026, all events will proceed as scheduled. As Papa journeys to Senegal to lay his mother to rest, he asks that all community members and families come together for the Cultural Day Celebration & Concert. It is important to celebrate—loudly and proudly—our community’s contributions to Colorado. He hopes to return before the Gala to see everyone there.
