The African Leadership Group (ALG) hosted a Community Health Fair October 3, bringing together more than 100 attendees, 12 vendors, and more than 15 volunteers for a day dedicated to health, wellness, and community connection.
The event provided community members with access to essential health services, preventive screenings, mental health resources, and wellness activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.
By connecting individuals and families with local healthcare providers and community organizations, the Health Fair helped make important health resources more accessible.
Throughout the event, community members took advantage of a variety of services, including:
- 40 flu vaccinations administered to help protect community members during flu season.
- More than 50 blood screenings completed, providing participants with access to important health testing.
- Over 70 blood pressure screenings conducted to promote awareness of cardiovascular health.
- More than 60 dental care visits provided to address oral health needs.
- Mental health resources, healing activities, interactive games, and other wellness opportunities for attendees.
Access to affordable healthcare was another important highlight of the event. Connect for Health Colorado helped individuals explore affordable health coverage options, connecting community members with information and resources to better understand their healthcare choices.
The success of the health fair was made possible through the collaboration of dedicated healthcare providers, community organizations, volunteers, and partners who came together with a shared commitment to improving community well-being.
Participating organizations included Serenity Health Home, the American Red Cross, Gyedi Project, Health Equity Ambassadors, Center for African American Health, Concorde Dental, UCHealth, Connect for Health Colorado, Village Exchange Center, Primordial Musical Therapy, and Mile High Health Clinic.
With more than 100 attendees benefiting from the event, the health fair demonstrated the importance of bringing healthcare services directly into the community and creating opportunities for individuals and families to access resources in one convenient location.
African Leadership Group extends its sincere gratitude to all participating organizations, healthcare providers, volunteers, and community members who contributed to making the event a success. Through continued collaboration and community engagement, ALG remains committed to promoting health equity, expanding access to resources, and supporting the overall well-being of African immigrant communities and families throughout the Denver metro area.
