The African Leadership Group (ALG) proudly hosted a vibrant and impactful Health Fair in Aurora, Colorado last Saturday, October 4.
The Health Fair brought together community members, healthcare professionals, and key organizations for a day dedicated to wellness, prevention, and education.
The event was designed to bridge the gap between underserved populations and essential health services. It featured a wide range of free and low-cost healthcare resources, including free doctor consultations, vaccinations, and affordable blood screenings, with prices ranging from just $8 to $20.
Organizations such as Colorado Health Connect, and UCHealth participated, offering critical information on healthcare coverage, preventive care, and stroke awareness. Their presence helped demystify healthcare processes and empowered attendees to take charge of their well-being.
The fair also included booths focused on chronic disease management, mental health support, and nutrition. making it a comprehensive one-stop-shop for health education and services.
The event drew an impressive turnout of over 130 participants. More than 70 attendees received flu shots, 60 completed blood draws, and over 100 individuals utilized on-site health services.
“We are thrilled with the turnout and incredibly grateful to all the vendors and volunteers who made this event possible, said Medhanet Gelaw, Medical Director of the Health and Wellness Committee at the African Leadership Group. “Events like this are crucial to keeping our community informed, healthy, and connected.”
