While the United States languishes close to the bottom of the world’s country in its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, the west African nation of Senegal is ranked second, behind only New Zealand in its management of the crisis.
An article in USA Today cites Foreign Policy magazine’s ranking of countries and how they have managed the virus. Senegal gets high marks because of its “high degree of preparedness and a reliance on facts and science.” The U.s., meanwhile, ranked 31st out of 36 countries surveyed because of “its poor public health messaging, limited testing and other shortcomings.”
