Since the COVID-19 pandemic began early in 2020, the African Leadership Group has worked to get direct cash assistance, in the form of gift cards, to people facing immediate needs.
We were able to help people last summer thanks to a grant from the Colorado Health Foundation. Over the holidays, a grant from the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation and the nonprofit TNTP.

These gifts sustainedย me for all this periodย when I received theย operation. I underwent a heart operation and they found that my heart was too weak to keep me living.
They therefore decided to implant aย machine called a pacemaker to support my heart. That’s how I have been able to start walking again.
This goes with a lot of medicine on a daily basisย which is expensive and yet I do not have any work because of my status. I will never be able to do any heavy work again.
