The African Leadership Group designs and implements community-driven programming to address the root causes of challenges faced within the African diaspora communities in Colorado. In an effort to meet the needs of women in the community, the women empowerment was created to further this mission and create a safe space for women to be able to come and share their experiences and struggles and get the much – needed support. The focus of this group is to empower women and girls, create strong families which in turn creates stronger communities. Current programs and activities include; Leadership Development, Coaching and counseling, Mentorship and Advocacy.
Betelheam Abate, Betelheam is from Ethiopia. She has lived in colorado since 2003. She recieved her bachelor degree in accounting from Regis univeristy in 2010. She has been recognized by former Colorado governor Bill Ritter for dedicating her time to help law income coloradans preparing their taxes. She volunteers at ALG with the Women Empowerment program to to fulfill her passion about empowering women in community through social, economic and educational impact. She is grateful for ALG creating the safe environment to work as team and encouraging women’s to participate leading roles in the community. Betelheam believes women’s participating in leadership inspire little girls to pursue their dream. Betelheam enjoys running, practicing group exercises and seeking adventures in the outdoors.
Anne R. Keke is a native of Cote d’Ivoire. She is a member of African Leadership Group, an advocacy organization dedicated to improve the quality of life for the African diaspora. She came to the US in 2001 to further her education. Anne has dedicated her time to help African French speaking immigrants have a better understanding of the American Criminal Justice system with her translation skills. She is a mother and a big woman advocate and always in search for new opportunities for her peers.
Limya Suleiman is the president of the Sudanese American woman’s group . An organization that is passionate about advocacy and helping Families by uplifting the community and empowering our youth. She went to medical school graduated in 2003 and immigrated to Denver in 2004. Her passion is to empower and motivate women to be the best versions of themselves.
Reverend. Dr. Pearl Addo-Teye is a native of Ghana, West Africa. She has B.Sc. in Agriculture Science from Ghana. She holds a Master and Ph.D. in Clinical Philosophy and Christian Counseling and a Minor PhD in Christian Education from Cornerstone University, Lake Charles Louisiana since 2014. She has been doing community and social work since 1991, caring for Orphans, Widows and the Elderly in the USA and Africa. She just enjoys helping people and believes that “life is about people, with people and for people” ALG gives me the opportunity help people in my community and I am grateful.
She is an Ordained Minister, Clinical Supervisor, Certified, and Clinical Member of National Christian Counselling Association. (N.C.C.A). She is an International Representative for Sarasota Academy of Christian Counselling (S.A.C.C) and a Certified Instructor for Creation Therapy and Created In God’s Image Courses. Rev. Dr. Pearl is a coach, mentor, trainer, teacher, conference speaker and a consultant. She is the Owner of Pearls Christian Counseling (PCC) and the President and Founder of Mind Renewal International (MRI).”
She is also an IT Professional as an Information Systems Engineer, Applications Support Specialist and a Certified Unix System Administrator. She is blessed with three precious Children and a very supportive Husband.
