About The Career and Economic Advancement Initiatives
Since its earliest days, ALG has worked to provide networking, career development, and economic advancement opportunities to its members. Recognizing the breadth and depth of professional expertise and experience within the African diaspora in Denver metro area, ALG works to connect members across industries and country backgrounds, while also providing opportunities to learn about high-growth industries in the local economy. Current programs and activities include the following:
Business After Hours: Through monthly networking opportunities, ALG members have an opportunity to make new professional connections, and explore potential partnership, collaboration and mentorship with like-minded professionals.
Industry workshops: Periodically, ALG hosts events and workshops to raise community awareness of companies and industries that are growing within Colorado, and to build bridges for these companies to hire from within the African diaspora. Recent examples include a workshop on solar energy, and an upcoming workshop on the construction industry.
Financial Literacy and Home Ownership Training: Through new partnerships and the support of ALG volunteers, we will soon be facilitating financial literacy and home ownership training and coaching for ALG members.
